From ABC:
The break-ins began two years ago and the teen was arrested on Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office. The suspect allegedly looked for unlocked windows and had a knife during several incidents, he said.
Charges are not yet clear. The 13-year-old’s parent has been cooperative, Bouchard said.
Notably, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald is not charging the child’s negligent parent – neither the single parent present, nor the absentee – when the same prosecutor previously charged and convicted the parents of Oxford shooter Ethan Crumbley of manslaughter.
Whether parents should be held accountable for their children’s crimes is an interesting legal topic for debate. But what isn’t debatable is that the Oakland County prosecutor does not apply any consistent standard of justice.
The reason is obvious: because the prosecution of Ethan Crumbley’s parents was a politically charged Second Amendment issue, whereas this more recent case was not.
