Alcoholic Attorney General Dana Nessel suffered a humiliating rebuke at the Democrats’ state convention in Detroit this past weekend.
According to Democrat witnesses, Rep. Debbie Dingell introduced Dana Nessel, describing her as a “justice warrior” to the approximately 400 Democrats in the District 6 caucus meeting.
The 6th District includes Washtenaw and parts of Wayne and Oakland counties.
That was when the room erupted in booing and shouting. Nessel was shouted down and unable to speak. A source added that Nessel was “invisible” for the remainder of the convention.
Many Democrats are enraged at Dana Nessel for pursuing felony charges against eleven pro-Palestine students at the University of Michigan that camped out on the Diag for an extended period last year in protest of the war in Gaza.
Nessel charged them with felony resisting and obstructing police, saying they “used physical force to counter” the police officers who were trying to clear them from the encampment they established on the Diag. The defendants’ supporters contend they have a First Amendment a right to demonstrate on the campus.
The students have also filed a federal lawsuit alleging the University of Michigan violated their free speech and other constitutional rights of students protesting the war.
