Stephen Colbert’s late-night show was canceled for lack of viewers, in large part because he turned the once-great Late Show with David Letterman into a political diatribe.
Naturally, after his cancellation he doubled down on having political guests, and Michigan’s senator Elissa Slotkin (D‑Langley) ditched voting in the U.S. Senate to appear on the show and make jokes about hotdogs.
After missing key votes on controversial legislation, Slotkin made a long post on X to explain away her missed votes and how genuinely torn she was on these complicated resolutions regarding weapons sales to Israel.
“I owe it to my state to make clear where I stand: Had I made it back for the vote yesterday, I would have voted yes to block offensive weapons to Israel based on my concerns over lack of food and medicine getting to civilians in Gaza,” Slotkin wrote in a rambling post.
While the world burns, Slotkin abandons her post to commiserate with a failed late night host.
