Whitmer spent $61,000 (from taxpayers’ money) on Switzerland trip

Bored with par­ti­san dead­lock in Lans­ing and hav­ing noth­ing to do in her final “lame duck” years in office, Gretchen Whit­mer spent the first two months of 2026 doing what she does best: vaca­tion­ing.

Her tax­pay­er-fund­ed jun­kets were, of course, con­sid­ered “offi­cial busi­ness” for the pur­pose of “bring­ing jobs to Michi­gan” to con­ceal the obvi­ous fact that these are tax­pay­er-fund­ed vaca­tions (and per­haps with a side ben­e­fit of hob­nob­bing ahead of a pres­i­den­tial run).
