Slotkin skips voting to appear on canceled Colbert show

Stephen Col­bert’s late-night show was can­celed for lack of view­ers, in large part because he turned the once-great Late Show with David Let­ter­man into a polit­i­cal dia­tribe.

Nat­u­ral­ly, after his can­cel­la­tion he dou­bled down on hav­ing polit­i­cal guests, and Michi­gan’s sen­a­tor Elis­sa Slotkin (D‑Langley) ditched vot­ing in the U.S. Sen­ate to appear on the show and make jokes about hot­dogs.

After miss­ing key votes on con­tro­ver­sial leg­is­la­tion, Slotkin made a long post on X to explain away her missed votes and how gen­uine­ly torn she was on these com­pli­cat­ed res­o­lu­tions regard­ing weapons sales to Israel.

“I owe it to my state to make clear where I stand: Had I made it back for the vote yes­ter­day, I would have vot­ed yes to block offen­sive weapons to Israel based on my con­cerns over lack of food and med­i­cine get­ting to civil­ians in Gaza,” Slotkin wrote in a ram­bling post.

While the world burns, Slotkin aban­dons her post to com­mis­er­ate with a failed late night host.

Last night I unfor­tu­nate­ly missed a vote series on two Joint Res­o­lu­tions of Dis­ap­proval regard­ing the sale of weapons to Israel.
